It started as Christmas in June Camp, but that name didn't last.
Cow Camp is a much better name, and reflects the purpose of the
camp. Cow Camp was June 21 - 25, 2010. For five
afternoons a total of thirty kids gathered in St. John's Parish Hall
to do crafts which will be used to raise money for Heifer
International!
The crafters, aged three to thirteen, worked together to create an
incredible array of items that will be sold at St. John's Christmas Bazaar
(November 20, 2010). All the money raised by the sale of these crafts
will be donated to Heifer International.

For many this was the first opportunity to give of themselves to
help others they will likely never know. There were stories,
maps, time to learn about our blessings and abundance, and
discussions of what animals they might be able to buy.
And the kids didn't want it to end after five days. Fortunately,
Art After School will be back this fall. It is a similar format and
gives the artists a chance to use their creativity and build community.
The group enjoyed working together so much, we will be hosting potluck
suppers starting in August to continue the fellowship. And, best of all,
planning for Cow Camp 2011 has already started!
Heifer
International provides families around the world with animals. By
giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, Heifer International
empowers people to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self-reliance and
hope.
