This year the Lenten opportunities are many:
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper - 2/21/2012 at 6:00
pm
Come "clean out the larders" in preparation for Lenten discipline. The
menu includes pancakes and waffles with maple syrup, sausage, and
applesauce. There will even be gluten-free options.
Friends and neighbors are welcome.

Ash Wednesday - 2/22/2012 at Noon and 7:00 pm
The traditional Imposition of Ashes with Communion
Embracing Emergence Christianity - Sunday
mornings at 9:00 (2/26 - 4/1/2012)
We will be using a DVD discussion series featuring reknowned Episcopalian
speaker Phyllis Tickle as we look at the changes that are starting to take
place in Christianity. Historically, there is major upheaval and
reformation every 500 years which prepares the Church to meet the needs of
the people, and we are starting the next cycle of major change.
Wednesday Evening Prayer - Wednesdays during Lent
at 6:30 pm (starting 2/29)
We'll use different Evening Prayer liturgies available in theBook
of Common Prayer and the New Zealand Prayer Book. Please join in these
quiet contemplative services.
Lenten Mission Project
We will be making and filling Ditty Bags for the Seafarer's Friend
Ministry in Portsmouth, NH. The Thursday Friends group is making the
bags. Everyone is invited to help fill a bag with suggested items.
The empty bags will be available on Feb. 26th. Choose items to fill
the bag from the tag attached to the bag and return the filled bag (and tag)
to St. John's during Lent. The bags will be delivered to the
Seafarer's Friend, where they are given to mariners on board the ships that
come into port.
